On Leave Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno doubts that President Rodrigo Duterte is not involved in the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Atty. Jose Calida.
In a speech at a sports club in E. Rodriguez, Quezon City, Sereno said that, even if she is mistaken, Duterte needs to explain why Calida, who reports to the President, filed a quo warranto petition against her in the Supreme Court.
According to the Chief Justice, it is embarrassing that the Solicitor General is searching evidence for something that happened 20 years ago.
Sereno also criticized her fellow officials for commenting on her leadership of the Supreme Court.
Particularly, Associate Justice Teresita De Castro who, according to the head magistrate, insisted that Sereno should not have applied and accepted the post of Supreme Court Chief Justice.
Sereno made these statements a day before she is set to meet her colleagues for the oral arguments of the quo warranto petition against her.
The oral arguments will happen at the Supreme Court Session Hall in Baguio City on April 10.
