Celeb gossip site receives flak after racist slur against Kpop female group

TMZ, a popular US celebrity gossip show earned the ire of some netizens after making fun of EXID’s “Asian accent” during one of their trips in Los Angeles a few days ago.

The South Korean girl group EXID was in the US for a tour and fans were waiting for them at the airport.  TMZ showed a clip of them as they arrive and fans flocked at them wanting to take selfies and hand them their gifts.  During the whole video, one of the staff members of the said show, poke fun at the “Asian accent” of EXID’s Jung Hwa.

As soon as they started speaking, some of the men in the show said that she will be criticized for what she just did. What made it worst was that an Asian girl was part of the staff and even made a comment about the whole thing.

Amber from girl group F(x) took to Twitter her distaste over the said clip saying that it she would’ve remained quiet about the whole thing but TMZ’s action was rude and childish.

Her post was seconded by 2PM’s Ok Taecyeon tweeting” “Don’t they know that when you make fun of someone for having a strange accent, that person can perfectly speak another language? The mentality to make fun of someone who answered in English because she went to the U.S and was greeted by many fans. Seriously, wow.” (in Hangul)

Singer Roy Kim replied at Amber’s tweet with an “Amen.”

Meanwhile, fans of British singer Sam Smith will have to hold on to their tickets longer as the “Stay with Me” singer announced on his official Facebook page that his scheduled “In The Lonely Hour” tour in Manila will have to be rescheduled as he’s still having vocal chords problems.

Smith already postponed some tour dates prior to his Manila leg of the tour and as he said on his page, he will be flying to the US to seek further medical attention.

No word yet on the new date of Smith’s concert in Manila.
