With the intense heat that the country is experiencing nowadays, the whole province of Cebu is now under a state of calamity.
As of one in the afternoon on Monday, the Cebu Provincial Board approved the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to place the whole of Cebu under a state of calamity.
According to Cebu PDRRMC Chief Baltazar Tribunal Jr., more than 20 local governments of the said province have declared their areas under a state of calamity.
Because of this, the province may now use the 121 million peso disaster risk management fund in order to provide help to the affected areas due to draught.
The temperature in Cebu has reached up to 43 degrees Celsius based on the heat index record of PAGASA Visayas in the past week.
