Calida says no conflict of interest on the Php 40-M deals on Luneta security

Solicitor General Jose Calida

Solicitor General Jose Calida denied the issues on the conflict of interest of the Php 40-million contract in the security agency with the National Parks Development Committee.

Documents showed that Milagros, Calida’s wife, as the chairperson and president of the Vigilant Investigative and Security Agency (VISAI) signed the contracts with NPDC on June 2017 and January 2018 for security services of the Rizal Park and Paco Park. The alleged deal for security services costs over Php 10.3-million for Rizal Park and Php 29.2-million for Paco Park.

Calida further justified that he had already resigned as the president and chairman of VISAIĀ on May 30, 2016, a month before he took his oath as the government’s chief lawyer and said that there are no conflicts of interest in the matter.

Moreover, he addressed that the alleged deal had gone through a public bidding.
