CA justice inhibits from Mayor Binay’s case

A Court of Appeals Justice inhibits herself from Makati Mayor Junjun Binay’s suspension order.

In a letter, Associate Justice Celia Librea-Leagogo said that she’s inhibiting herself from the second suspension order against Mayor Binay because her husband is a law partner of a relative of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.

Roxas is one of the respondents in the filed petition of the younger Binay.

Leagogo will be replaced by Associate Justice Priscilla Baltazar Padill as new acting chairperson of the 10th division.

The suspended Mayor questioned at the Appellate Court the latest suspension order slapped against him by the Office of the Ombudsman.

Not like the previous decision of the CA 6th division on Binay’s first suspension order, the 10th division didn’t release an ex-parte temporary restraining order against the latest suspension order of the Ombudsman.

Instead, the court has ordered the Ombudsman to submit an argument answering Binay’s petition.

Mayor Binay is facing graft charges on the alleged anomalous construction of the Makati Science High School.
