The Bureau of Customs welcomed its five new Commissioners as they joined in the agency’s flag raising ceremony yesterday.
The new Commissioners vowed to help rid Customs of its ugly image due to alleged rampant corruption within its officials.
According to Customs Secretary Ruffy Biazon, the arrival of the five Commissioners is a good thing because it would be easier to align them towards one goal, not like when there’s a lone new Commissioner, they tend to become complacent and “myopic on how they do their jobs”.
The new Commissioners are Jesse Dellosa for Enforcement and Intelligence; Agaton Uvero for Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group; Primo Agua, Management Information Systems and Technology group; Myrna Chua, Internal Administration group; and Ma. Edita Tan for Revenue Collection Monitoring Group.
