Tourists in Palawan could be prohibited from wearing revealing clothes, including t-back bikinis, thongs, and G-strings, and also from public display of affection.
This is based on two resolutions that were proposed by board member Cherry Pie Acosta during the 86th regular session of the Provincial board of Palawan.
Acosta explained that these resolutions intend to protect local and foreign tourists, and the morals of Palaweños.
The board member based her resolutions on some incidents wherein tourists were caught doing sexual acts, and the belief that sexual clothes and activities could lead to an increase in heinous crimes, particularly rape.
During an interview with DZRH, Acosta added that the resolutions also target for students not to be accustomed in the sexy swimsuits that are regularly worn by foreign tourists.
“May mga turista na dumadaan na naka t-back at nakikita ng mga bata at estudyante.” Acosta said. “Baka naman pwede tabunan ang T-back.”
Acosta is also worried that residents might also get a different understanding if beach-goers will wear daring clothes while visiting churches in the province.
“Malaya silang pumasyal, pero dumadaan ang mga turista sa mga simbahan.” Acosta added.
