Bela Padilla will be replacing Nadine Lustre in the remake of the blockbuster South Korean film ‘Miracle in Cell No. 7,’ the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) confirmed in an interview.
In a statement, Nadine’s label, Viva Artists Agency, revealed in a letter sent to the MMFF executive committee that the actress “begged off the project due to medical concerns resuting to her inability to perform her duties as an actress during the shoot up to the promotion of the film.”
Reports said that MMFF approved the change in the lead actress role stating that “we believe that Bela Padilla is an excellent actress and a bankable star, and she will significantly contribute to the film’s artistry and commercial success.”
Earlier this month, fans of the 25-year-old actress were surprised and excited over the announcement of Nadine headlining the remake of the tear-jerker South Korean film together with veteran actor Aga Muhlach. The film will also star actors Joel Torre, JC Santos, and Arjo Atayde.
Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a 2013 movie starred by South Korean actors Ryu Seung Ryong, Kal So Won, and Park Shin Hye. It tells the story of a mentally challenged single father that was wrongfully imprisoned for murder.
At this time, Nadine Lustre is currently promoting her upcoming movie “Indak” together with Sam Concepcion. The film will be released in cinemas this coming August 7.
