Battered Ormoc has to be declared under state of calamity

Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla has recommended to the government declaring Ormoc under the state of calamity after the havoc of massive typhoon ‘Yolanda’ last Friday.

Petilla said that 90 percent of houses and buildings in the city were totally damaged.

The Energy Secretary also said that the storm surges were as tall as 300 meters during the height of the typhoon.

Petilla was a former governor in the city.

In Palo town, almost 100 people were found dead.
