The Philippine Azkals still has a chance to claim the gold medal in the men’s football tournament of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
The Philippine national men’s football team defeated Malaysia, 1-0, on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to remain in contention for a semifinals slot in the tournament.
The Azkals scored their lone goal of the game after a corner kick by captain Stephan Schrock got deflected by the Malaysian players pass the goal line.
The previous two games of the Philippine team ended with a 1-1 draw against Cambodia and 2-1 loss against Myanmar.
The Azkals will seek their second win in the tournament when they take Timor-Leste on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Binan Football Stadium in Laguna.
