The Beermen came back from a 0-3 deficit to set history in the PBA by becoming the first team to do so and eventually win the title.

The Beermen also won a second consecutive Philippine Cup title and their third PBA crown in the last four conferences as well as their 22nd overall title.

“I said that miracle was just around the corner and it happened. We prayed hard and we’re able to make history. We’re able to show our talent. Zero-three kami pero nabuhayan pa rin kami. The players just refused to lose. They really wanted to win this championship especially noong nalaman pa na this will be historic,” said Austria.

Philippine Cup Finals MVP Chris Ross said his teammates just refused to give up despite the daunting odds.

“Even when we’re down 0-3, we just kept fighting and fighting. That’s what we did,” said Ross who made important contributions as San Miguel made its astounding run.

The San Miguel Beer mentor also commended the Aces for a job well done even as they pushed the Beermen to the absolute limit.

“Job well done to both teams but I think we’re luckier than Alaska. Both are deserving to win a championship,” he said.

The Beermen are enjoying their championship but are already preparing for the next conference. They want another championship and perhaps a second Grand Slam for the Beermen.
