83 politicians are included in the narco-list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and at least six of them are currently members of the Philippine Congress.
PDEA Dir. Gen. Aaron Aquino on Wednesday, Feb. 13, confirmed that they have validated the involvement of the said lawmakers in the trade of illegal drugs.
Aquino said that most of the politicians included in the list are protectors of drug syndicates and pushers. He also added that others finance illegal drug operations while some got included just for pleading for the absolution of a suspect.
“Pare-pareho kayong nasa listahan, ang tinign ng tao sa inyo ay pare-pareho ng level. Pero ang sabi ko nga, iba-ibang level iyon. Involved ka lang sa pag-arbor-arbor diyan ay talagang masasama ang pangalan mo diyan,” Aquino said during DZRH’s Isyu.
“Karamihan puro protector at coddler. Hindi talaga involved sa big-time. Pero makikita mo naman, meron mga mayor talagang na-iinvolve talaga, big-time drug pushers, and financciers ng mga sindikato pero pailan-ilang lang ito,” Aquino clarified.
Aside from politicians, Aquino revealed that PDEA has also monitored the involvement of active generals and senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
“Kina-case build-up namin ito together with the AFP and the PNP to ensure na itong mga uniformed services na ito ay ma-imbestigahan din natin,” Aquino said.
