The Sandiganbayan has dismissed the motion of Davao Del Norte Rep. Antonio Floreindo to defer the scheduled arraignment of the graft charges against him.
The arraignment of Floreindo is set on May 2, 2018.
On a resolution dated April 12, the anti-graft court denied Floreindo’s omnibus motion for leave in connection with the case filed against him by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
Aside from the motion for leave, the congressman also asked that the Sandiganbayan direct the Office of the Ombudsman to finish their investigation on the said graft case.
According to the resolution, the court believes that Floreindo is seeking reinvestigation on the grounds that he was innocent and denied due process.
The Sandiganbayan further added that there is no need to order the Ombudsman to finish their preliminary investigation since it has been completed.
Alvarez accused Floreindo of committing graft due to his alleged involvement in the 2003 joint venture agreement between the Tagum Agricultural Development Company (TADECO), owned by the congressman’s family, and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
