President Benigno Aquino III accepted the resignation of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chairwoman Margarita Juico on Friday, Malacañang said.
Juico submitted her resignation on Thursday night because she said she wants to spend more time with her family.
In a statement, Presidential Communication Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. said the President thanked Juico for her “dedicated service to the government and the Filipino people.”
“As an esteemed family friend, President Aquino wishes her well on her decision to end her stint in public service,” Coloma said.
He added that the effectivity of Juico’s resignation is upon formal written acceptance by the President in accordance with established procedures.
“I have reached retirement age. I have served over two decades. Pahinga na muna (Rest first),” Juico said in a news report.
Aquino appointed Juico as PCSO chair in 2010. Before being PCSO chair, she was social secretary of Aquino’s mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, and served for 17 years on the PCSO board.
