Grandmaster Joey Antonio was hailed the best of the best in the country after winning the 2013 battle of the grandmasters chess championships along Vito Cruz in Manila.

From a seven-round competition, the veteran GM tallied six points with five wins and two draws.

Antonio had a tight battle with GM Rogelio Barcenilla who also scored six points but lost to Antonio due to inferior tie break points.

International master Joel Pimentel and GM Darwin Laylo are tied at third place with 5.5 points.
