Actress Aiko Melendez confirmed that she will no longer be part of the latest teleserye offering of ABS-CBN, “Sandugo” as she will be busy in helping her boyfriend, Subic Mayor Jay Khonghun as he bids for the vice-governor post in Zambales for the 2019 midterm elections.
In an interview, Aiko said that she feels disheartened in letting go of the role that was tailored-fit for her, but she is much aware that she needs to be by her boyfriend’s side, especially with the current controversy that has been thrown against him.
Mayor Khonghun’s name has been included in the alleged narco list of President Rodrigo Duterte. The Subic mayor vehemently denied such accusations, and according to Aiko, she felt that this is the time that she needs to be by her boyfriend’s side.
In an interview with a local entertainment source, Aiko said that she has apologized to ABS-CBN and that she is happy that veteran singer-actress Vina Morales will take over her role.
Aiko said that amid her concern with Mayor Jay, the two are not yet engaged and nor getting married anytime soon.
