AFP promises aid to Urduja victims even with recent NPA ambush

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is prepared to assist the victim of Tropical Depression Urduja in Biliran.

This was guaranteed by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Rey Guerrero even after the New People’s Army ambushed a military unit that was supposed to assist those affected by Urduja in Brgy. Hinagonoyan, Catubig, Samar.

According to Guerrero, the AFP are using its air assets for the transportation of relief goods, and to assist in search and rescue operations.

Even with the recent NPA ambush on Dec. 17, the AFP chief said that the public can expect that soldiers are willing to provide security and their needs during calamities.

“Meron tayong mga naka-antabay na airforce assets sa Manila para magdala ng mga resources dito, relief goods galing sa Manila at ganoon din sa Cebu at sa ibang lugar pa dito sa Visayas para makaabot ang relief goods sa ating mga kababayan.” Guerrero said.
