The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is now on red alert status in preparation for the public’s commemoration of All Saint’s Day on Thursday, Nov. 1, and All Soul’s Day on Friday, Nov. 2.
“The Unified Commands and the Joint Task Force NCR, with our counterparts in the PNP will augment troops to secure public facilities such as cemeteries and other establishments in the key cities around the country for Undas,” AFP Chief of Staff Carlito Galvez Jr. said in a statement.
Galvez has also ordered military units to intensify intelligence monitoring and security operations, and the AFP major service to remain on standby and ready to augment security deployments during the holidays.
The AFP chief assured that they will maximize their presence in checkpoints, and that Explosive Ordinance Disposal teams, along with K9 units, will be deployed in major cemeteries.
“We will ensure that our troops, in support to the PNP, are ready to thwart any possible threat that may arise during the holidays,” Galvez promised.
Meanwhile, Galvez called for the public to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings during the upcoming holidays. He also advised the people to report any unusual individual or commotion that they will witness while on holiday.
