Senate President Vicente Sotto III is hoping that President Rodrigo Duterte should do something against the alleged massive corruption inside the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.
According to Sotto, he is waiting for the President to get mad at the officials of the embattled agency.
Sotto added that it’s about time that Malacanang should act on it since allegations keep on piling up against PHILHEALTH’s officials.
During the hearing of the Senate Committee of the Whole regarding the alleged corruption inside PHILHEALTH, aside from corruption, there are also claims of failures and “palakasan system” being manipulated by “mafia”.
Sotto said that the President should castigate them already because even the Commission on Audit revealed that PHILHEALTH officials are uncooperative during their request to check on the books and financial transactions within the agency.
The National Bureau o Investigation assigned the Department of Justice to look into these allegations because PHILHEALTH officials were not willing to cooperate as well.
Meanwhile, Sotto said that after the third hearing, the Senate will put an end to its investigation on the PHILHEALTH anomaly and will come up with a committee report wherein it will be used as basis by the Office of the Ombudsman if cases should be filed against the agency’s officials.
