79 locally stranded individuals test positive for COVID-19 in BARMM

79 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) tested positive for the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) after arriving in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) announced on Monday, July 13, after receiving the results of the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests done to 259 of the 405 LSI who arrived in BARMM.

BARMM Spokesperson and Interior and Local Government Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo said that the LSIs came from Metro Manila, and disembarked at Cagayan De Oro.

Simarimbo said that the LSIs are curerntly staying at four quarantine facilities in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

He added that all LSIs, whether they tested negative or positive for COVID-19, will undergo 14-day quarantine before the government ferries them to the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

BIATF said that the infected LSIs include a senior citizen, and seven minors with ages three to 13 years old.
