AF Payments Inc. announced that it has already sold three million beep™ cards since starting operations in 2015. The tap-to-pay smartcard is enjoying increasing acceptance among Filipinos who realize the value and convenience that go with it.
Among MRT and LRT riders alone, 6 out of 10 use the beep™ card to pay for journeys, compared to single journey tickets. In addition, its first retail partner FamilyMart has been logging healthy load transaction numbers daily. Many cardholders express hope to use the beep™ card in other purchases too, much like the multi-purpose smartcards used in developed countries.
“Three million beep™ cards in circulation is a big milestone for us. It shows that Filipinos are getting used to this technology and are adapting it for their daily use.
