The 2021 South East Asian Games happening in Vietnam and the 2022 Asian Games in China will now have eSports tournaments.
The said news was confirmed by Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee chief operations officer Ramon Suzara and Philippine Olympic Committee president Rep. Abraham Tolentino.
However, the two officials cannot assure whether the eSports tournaments will be medal events or just an exhibition tourneys.
Meanwhile, Tolentino boasted that the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines will be the first multi-sports event to have eSports as a medal event.
The eSports competition of the 2019 SEA Games is divided into three indivdual events: StarCraft II, Hearthstone, and Tekken, and three team events: Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, and DOTA 2.
