Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Ricardo Visaya has ordered the more than 125,000 strongmen of the military to use all available ‘tools of war’ of the government in order to annihilate the remaining members of the Abu Sayyaf Group.

Gen. Visaya ordered the said directive during the 3rd Quarter Command Conference of the AFP officials in Camp Aguinaldo last Friday.

Gen. Visaya said that the AFP was able to neutralized 130 ASG member, including their leaders’ Mohammad Said, Jamiri Jawhari, Mussana Jimir, Nelson and Braun Muktadil.

The troops were also able to recover 165 fascrafts being used by the rebel group in their kidnapping for ransom activities.

Visaya insisted that there is an existing Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Transportation and the AFP, who has the power to implement the regulation in using high speed watercrafts, confiscating unregistered sea vessels and dissolution of illegally constructed ports and wharves.

“This must be enforced not only in the Zambasulta area but throughout the country to significantly reduce enemy capabilities, further constrain their movement, and deny staging areas for their atrocities.”

In line with this, Visaya said that communities should stop giving support to the Abu Sayyaf.

“We need to hi the ASG harder.  Our goal is the total defeat of the ASG and the destruction of its cells the soonest possible time.”
