The local showbiz industry is mourning the passing of one of Philippines’ gems, Armida Siguion-Reyna.
Armida’s death was confirmed by her sister Irma Potentiaciano through a local television network.
The singer-actress known for her contrabida roles was suffering from Colon Cancer. She died at the Makati Medical Center on Monday afternoon.
Armida’s resume boasts of movies like “Paano baa ng Mangarap?”, “Ibulong mo sa Diyos”, Inagaw moa ng Lahat sa Akin”, Hihintayin Kita sa Langit” and Ligaya ang Itawag mo sa Akin” among others.
Aside from being an excellent thespian, Armida also served as movie producers, with films being directed by her son, Carlitos.
During the time of former President Joseph Estrada, she also served as head of the Movie, Television Review and Classification Board.
She was also the host of “Aawitan Kita”, one of the first-ever musical variety shows in the country, lasting for 34 years.
