Typhoon “Karen” gains strength as it nears Catanduanes.
Based on the ‘sever weather bulletin’ issued by PAGASA around 5pm, the center of the typhoon was spotted at a distance of 205 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
‘Karen’ has sustain winds of up to 100 kph on its center with gustiness of up to 140 kph.
The typhoon is moving towards west northwest with a speed of 9kph.
In line with this, Quezon, Aurora, Albay and Polilio Island may be placed under signal number 2 as early as tonight of early Saturday morning.
However, signal number 2 is already raised in Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte. Meanwhile, signal number 1 is raised in Albay, Sorsogon, Quezon including Polilio Island, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Laguna, Rizal, Marinduque and Ticao and Burias Island.
