After skipping the fourth window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers due to injuries, June Mar Fajardo and Greg Slaughter will be forming the twin towers of the Philippine National Men’s Basketball team when they face Kazakhstan on Friday, Nov. 30.
Slaughter and Fajardo will also be joined by their PBA teammates Brgy. Ginebra’s LA Tenorio, Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar, and Scottie, along with San Miguel Beermen’s Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter.
Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Joseller ‘Yeng’ Guiao tapped the services of Fil-American Stanley Pringle of Northport Batang Pier to serve as their naturalized player for the upcoming game.
Matthew Wright of the Phoenix Fuel Masters, Poy Erram of the Blackwater Elite, along with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters duo Gabe Norwood and Beau Belga completed the 12-man line-up released by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
After their game against Kazakhstan, Gilas Pilipinas will be facing Iran on Monday, Dec. 03, in the SM Mall of Asia Arena for their second game in the fifth window of the Asian Qualifiers.
Coach Guiao could possibly form a different line-up for the second game following reports that he will tap the services of Fil-German Christian Standhardinger for the Iran game. Gilas Pilipinas veterans Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario will also be available since they will finish serving their three-game suspension after the Kazakhstan game.
