Fueling up President Rodrigo Duterte’s latest ‘marijuana’ joke, Senator Antonio Trillanes III challenged him on Thursday to undergo a drug test to clear himself from his supposed joke.
Duterte on Monday, December 3 said in his speech that he is using marijuana to keep himself awake due to his loaded schedule. When asked by the reporters later, he then refuted that he was just plainly joking. His statement was, later on, backed by Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo who justified that Duterte is entitled to joke and clarified that marijuana is not a stimulant.
In a statement, Trillanes called Duterte as someone who desperately trying to contain the damage of his admission about him being a marijuana-user by dismissing it as a joke.
“Too late! Bistado na s’ya na isa rin pala syang durugista. Now, if he really wants to clear himself, I am again calling on him to take a drug test,” the senator said.
In July, Trillanes addressed that the Office of the President should be the one to lead government agencies in undergoing the mandatory drug test of its officials and personnel.
