Groups against the alleged phase-out of old jeepneys, once again carried out a transport strike in Metro Manila and other provinces.

Transport groups carried out a protest caravan and a transport strike on busy jeepney routes including Monumento, Sta. Cruz, Quiapo, Manila; and Pasig, Cainta and Antipolo City.

Due to this, passengers in Manila were distressed since only tricycles were travelling and passengers in Monumento were affected by the rally of jeepney drivers that are against the Jeepney Modernization Program.

The transport group of Piston clarified that they did not implement a transport strike and only carried out a nationwide protest.

Members of Piston and partnered groups organized in elliptical road, Quezon City, and marched to Mendiola, Manila.

Some affected schools even suspended their classes in order to avoid causing problems to their students who will have difficulties commuting due to the transport strike.

The government plans to remove old jeepneys from the roads in order to protect the public from pollution and provide comfort to passengers.
