Tourism official defends agency’s new slogan

“Hindi lang basta makikita, kundi mararanasan ang tunay na ganda ng Pilipinas.”

This is the center of the Department of Tourism’s latest campaign slogan ‘Experience the Philippines.’

The government released their new tourism slogan on June 13, and was introduced to the public through the media.

According to DOT Undersecretary Ricky Alegre, the concept targets foreign senior citizens and retirees wishing to live in the Philippines.

The government official explained that the campaign insists that retirement funds would last longer if it is used in the Philippines.

“Ang pinaka-target audience diyan ay yung mga retiree, yung mga seniors na talaga naman gusto dito sa Pilipinas.” Alegre said during an exclusive interview with DZRH. “Umaakyat kasi yung gumagamit ng Philippine Retirement Authority na package. Yung kapag dito ka tumira sa Pilipinas, yung retirement fund mo medyo mapapahaba, mapapaphaba ang gamit.”
