Taiwanese-Canadian actor and supermodel Godfrey Gao had passed away while filming a reality show in China on Wednesday, November 27.
In a statement, his management Jetstar Entertainment confirmed that the actor had fainted and was declared dead after nearly three hours of medical care.
The 35-year-old Gao collapsed in the eastern city of Ningbo while on the set of Chase Me, a competitive sports reality show in China’s Zhejiang Television. They said that the actor had slowed down and fell to the ground while running during filming and that the hospital had confirmed it was sudden cardiac death.
Born in Taiwan, Gao achieved success in Greater China and beyond.
He was the first Asian man to model for fashion brand Louis Vuitton and starred alongside Lena Headey and Lily Collins in the 2013 film “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.” Gao also appeared in numerous Chinese-language TV shows and the 2019 sci-fi epic “Shanghai Fortress,” according to his IMDB page.
