The suspect in the killing of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija Mayor Ferdinand Bote was arrested on Wednesday by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The suspect, identified as Florencio Suarez, was stopped at a checkpoint along Andaya Highway in Barangay Cabasag, Del Gallego, Camarines Sur at around 9 am, while he was driving a beige Toyota Avanza with the plate number PGQ 134.
The vehicle used by the suspect matched the getaway car that was seen after the murder of the said mayor.
Bote was killed on July 3 after a motorcycle-riding assailant repeatedly shot him inside his vehicle.
His death came barely a day after the killing of Tanauan Mayor Antonio Halili.
Recovered from Suarez was a caliber .45 pistol allegedly seen in plain view when he was stopped for a checkpoint inspection.
However, the PNP continues top search for another suspect who is believed to have assisted Suarez during the killing.
Police have yet to establish the motive behind Bote’s killing since the late mayor is not included in the government’s infamous drug watchlist.
