The Supreme Court has junked the motion for reconsideration filed by Vice President Leni Robredo’s camp.
Serving as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, the highest court has ordered the Vice President to pay the PHp8 million initial installment for her counter-protest against former Senator Ferdinand Marcos in connection with the outcome of the Vice Presidential race in the May 2016 elections.
The court has ordered the two parties to shoulder the expenses in retrieving the poll materials used in the more than 160,000 precincts being in questioned. Marcos’ protest covers 132, 446 precincts while Robredo has 31,278 precincts in her protest.
Prior to this, Marcos already paid his initial installment of Php33 million.
Robredo refused to pay her initial installment and instead filed a motion for reconsideration. The PET also ordered Robredo to pay her initial installment of Php8 million within five days upon receiving the highest court’s ruling.
