South Korea ends Gilas’ dream for 2017 FIBA Asia Cup crown

South Korea ended the dream of Gilas PIlipinas to be declared champions in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon.

During the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Koreans defeated the Philippine National Men’s Basketball team with a score of 118-86.

Gilas wasn’t able to respond to South Korea as the team immediately grabbed the lead in the First Quarter with a score of 26-18. The Koreans continued to strengthen their attacks during the Third Quarter and widened the score gap to 85-69.

Terrence Romeo led the team with 22 points, and Fil-German Christian Standhardinger who contributed 17 points.

Gilas started their campaign at the 29th FIBA Asia Cup with three continuous wins against the defending champion China, Iraq and Qatar.

Meanwhile, Gilas will be facing Lebanon next for the race to place fifth in the tournament.
