The Senate will look into the preparedness of the Commission on Elections for this coming May national elections.
Even if the session has been adjourned already, the Senate committee will continue with its joint congressional oversight on the Automated Election System.
Senator Koko Pimentel, chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms said that they ask the COMELEC to explain the reported technical glitches in the Vote Counting Machines.
Pimentel insisted that the COMELEC should fix whatever glitches there are in the VCM to avoid any mishaps in the May 9 elections.
The Senator added that the committee will also get an update on the COMELEC’s plan to implement mall voting.
Based on the COMELEC’s explanation, mall voting will help in easing out congestion of voters in polling precincts.
