Sen. Richard Gordon wants to invite former President Benigno Aquino III to attend the Senate hearing on the controversial anti-dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia.
According to Gordon, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee said that he has received information that CNoy personally met with representatives from Sanofi Pasteur, the manufacturer of Dengvaxia.
Aquino and some members of his Cabinet met with officials from Sanofi in China and in Paris, the home country of Sanofi Pasteur.
Aside from Aquino, Gordon would also like to invite former Health Sec. Janette Garin, former Budget Sec. Florencio Abad, and other former officials of the Aquino administration, allegedly involved in the said issue.
Gordon added that if there is truth that the Aquino administration allocated the money from the Disbursement Acceleration Program which was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, in acquiring Dengvaxia, this would mean that they violated the Constitution.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez warned members of PDP-Laban that they will be kicked out of the ruling party if proven to have participated in the dengue vaccine controversy.
“Yung may gawa niyan at sigurado ‘tigbak-sya’, hindi na Dengvaxia yun, tigbak-sya na”, quipped Alvarez.
