The Social Security System must justify its plan to raise the premium contribution of its members.
According to Sen. Richard Gordon, the SSS needs to explain to its members why the premium contribution needs to be increased, and its proposal should be carefully reviewed.
SSS intends to increase the premium contribution from 11% of the monthly salary credit to 14% starting this April.
Gordon explained that SSS should have a consultation with President Rodrigo Duterte since Malacanang should consider the additional burden that will be placed on members, amidst the ongoing price increase.
If the proposed increase on April is approved, SSS is expected to collect an additional Php 45 billion before the end of 2018.
