Sen. Richard Gordon lambasted former Health Usec. Kenneth Hartigan – Go for his alleged conflict of interest on the Dengvaxia issue.
During the hearing of the Senate, Gordon, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, questioned the position of Go since he previously worked for the Zuellig Group, the distributor of Dengvaxia in the Philippines.
The senators insisted that Go did not clarify his work his work history with the said group of companies, which could have caused the quick approval of Dengvaxia by DOH.
“Nagtratabaho ka sa Zuellig foundation. Distributor ang Zuellig foundation ng Dengvaxia. Itinulak ito ng wala sa budget. Kumuha ng savings ang national government sa lalong madaling panahon, sa lalong pinaka-mabilis na panahon para itulak ito.” Gordon told Go during the hearing.
However, Go explained that he does not particularly worked for the Zuellig Pharmaceutical, but with the Zuellig Foundation.
“My stint with the Zuellig foundation was between years 2001 to 2009, and after that there was no more connection. The foundation is totally separate from the Zuellig Pharma.” Go responded to Gordon.
Meanwhile, Gordon also revealed that Sanofi Pasteur tried to talk to him before the hearing.
“Somebody called me on the phone, I can show you. ‘Pwede bang makipag-kita sa iyo ang Sanofi?’Ang sabi ko ‘it’ll be akward for me to see Sanofi now, I’m having a hearing’. I’m saying it now, Sanofi tried to make connect with me.” Gordon revealed.
