Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero’ is asking Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista to sign a bank waiver, if the official will not attend the Senate hearing.
According to Sen. Escudero, chairman of the Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies, the waiver is important in order for the Senate to continue its investigation on the alleged ill-gotten wealth of Chair Bautista.
Most of the bank accounts of Chair Bautista are deposited at the Luzon Development Bank (LDB).
Based on the accusations of Mr. Bautista’s wife, Patricia Paz Bautista, the COMELEC head has 32 bank accounts, containing more than Php 330 million, in the LDB.
Attorney Francis Lim, legal counsel of the LDB, promised that their bank will cooperate with the Senate investigation.
Atty. Lim said that LDB is willing to open their bank records, but Chair Bautista needs to issue a waiver.
