The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) assured that Philippine National Men’s Basketball team naturalized player Andray Blatche is safe after getting involved at a car accident.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 25, SBP President Al Panlilo said that he received assurance from Chao Espaldon, the agent of Blatche, that the 32-year old basketball player is fine after the ‘minor collision’.
“I was alarmed when the accident involving Andray made the rounds in social media. At first, it looked like a major head-on collision,” Panlilo said in the statement.
“Upon checking with Andray’s agent, Ms. Chao Espaldon, it was confirmed that it was just a fender-bender and Andray is perfectly fine,” Panlilo added.
In a video posted in his Instagram account, Blatche revealed that he got into a car accident, which according to reports happened somewhere in the United States of America.
The video showed that at least two black vehicles were involved in the collision.
Blatche has not suited up for the Philippine national team since the International Basketball Federation sanctioned him with a three-game suspension for his involvement in the in-game brawl between Gilas Pilipinas and Australian Boomers on July 2.
The former NBA star will finish serving his three-game suspension after the Philippines host a game against Kazakhstan on November 30, and could suit up for the national team when they have a re-match against Iran on December 3.
