San Miguel beats Magnolia for fourth straight PBA Philippine Cup title

The San Miguel Beermen has seized their fourth straight PBA Philippine Cup championship.

Ending the Best-of-Seven Finals Series in Game Five, the Beermen needed two overtimes in order to defend their title from Magnolia Hotshots with a score of 108-99.

2018 PBA Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference and Finals Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo gave 42 points and 20 rebounds for the victory of San Miguel.

While Paul Lee registered 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Hotshots, who led all throughout the first three quarters of the game at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

San Miguel, who trailed by 23 points at most, recovered due to the efforts of Fajardo and Arwind Santos, who provided 23 points and 11 rebounds, along with the three pointer that forced the game to a tie, 86-86, and went to overtime

The game reached a second extra period after Fajardo tied the score to 94-all in the first overtime.

As another five minutes was added to the clock, Magnolia started to commit multiple turnovers and was only limited to five points, while a late six point run brought Beermen to their 25th PBA title.
