Former Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. is currently enjoying his freedom after being detained for more than four years in relation to his plunder case.
Revilla has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center following his alleged involvement in the Pork Barrel Fund scam headed by Janet Lim-Napoles.
Revilla left Camp Crame late Friday afternoon.
In an exclusive interview with DZRH, Revilla admitted that he had mixed emotions for today’s events, but he was able to prove and with the court’s decision, that he is innocent of the charges filed against him.
Revilla also thanked his family, especially his wife, Mayor Lani Mercado and the public for their unwavering support.
Revilla added that he plans to go around the country to personally thank the Filipinos who never left his side amid the trials he faced during his more than four years detainment.
Meanwhile, Malacanang stated that they respect the anti-graft’s court decision to acquit Revilla from his plunder case.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said that Malacanang will follow the Sandiganbayan’s order.
Panelo said that the Executive’s respect on the Judiciary being an independent body will remain as it just fulfilling the constitutional justice to provide justice.
The acquittal of the former senator was issued by the Sandiganbayan after four years of being detained at the PNP Custodial Center.
Aside from Revilla, the court also delivered its promulgation against Napoles and Revilla’s chief of staff, Richard Cambe. Napoles and Cambe were found guilty of the plunder cases filed against them.
