La Union district Rep. Sandra Eriguel appeals for the police to continue their investigation on the death of her husband, former Rep. Eufranio Eriguel, since she doubts that the arrested suspect is the mastermind.

Recently, C/Supt. Romulo Sapitula insisted that the murder of Eufranio is already partially solved due to the arrest of Felizardo Villanueva, a re-electionist for the position of village chairman in Brgy. Capas, Agoo, La Union.

The police took Villanueva into custody due to witnesses testifying that he was restless prior the incident, and upon discovering messages in his cellphone that implicates him to the crime.

Based on the latest report, three counts of murder were charged against the suspect, who is detained at the Agoo Police Station.

While Rep. Sandra has no doubts that Villanueva was indeed involved in the death of his husband, she believes that the losing barangay captain was only a look-out or a spotter for the gunners.

“Nung pagdating na pagdating pa lang namin, text na ng text, saka nag-vivideo siya si Rep. Eufranio Eriguel na nagsasalita.” Sandra explained during DZRH’s Breaktime. “Tapos may kausap rin siyang naka-motor.”

The widowed congresswoman said that she is grateful to the agencies working on the case but hopes that the ‘mastermind’ will soon be arrested since she and her family fears for their safety and security.

“Meron din naman PNP personnel ngayon after the elections, at yung army. Pero yung sinasabi ko hindi ka safe hannga’t hindi nahuhuli yung mismong mastermind. Yung nag-utos sana iyon sana ang mahuli.” Sandra added.

On May 12, Eufranio was shot by still unidentified assailants while the former La Union congressman was giving his speech at the general assembly of election candidates in Capas.

Two security aides of the congressman were also killed during the ambush after they attempted to shield Eufranio.
