PSC mourns passing of 30-year old Filipino marathoner Rafael Poliquit

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) mourns the passing of National Track & Field Team Member Rafael Poliquit Jr. at the age of 30 on Thursday, April 11, due to complications from subdural emphysema.

PSC said that their Medical and Scientific Athlete Services confirmed the passing of Poliquit, a three-time champion of the Milo Marathon, at 2:21PM at the V Luna Medical Center in Diliman, Quezon City.

The Marathon King from Tagum City, Davao Del Norte was supposed to represent the Philippines in the Marathon event of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

PSC noted that Poliquit, an airman 2nd Class of the Philippine Air Force, seized his third Milo Marathon trophy December in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte after clocking his best time: 2 hours, 28 minutes and 47 seconds.

He also represented the Philippines in the 2016 Boston Marathon.
