Prosecutor survives ambush in Caloocan City


A Caloocan City prosecutor reportedly survived an ambush outside a restaurant in Caloocan City on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 10.

According to reports, the prosecutor, identified as Elmer Susano of the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court (RTC), had just left a restaurant in B. Serrano St. corner 9th Ave. and was about to go inside his pickup truck when three unidentified assailants shot him around 2:40 PM.

In a CCTV footage released, the assailants who are all wearing helmets chased down Susano before they eventually withdrew. The prosecutor can also be seen hitting one of the motorcycles while reversing his truck.

Susano immediately went to the nearest police station and reported the said incident.

In a statement, Noel Flores, Caloocan City police chief said that prior to the incident, the prosecutor revealed that he had been receiving death threats.

Also recovered from the crime scene were more than 10 empty shells of the still unknown caliber of firearms.

Authorities are still looking on the possible motive of the ambush.
