President Rodrigo Duterte is willing to follow the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.

However, the President hopes that the Supreme Court will take into consideration the threat of the Islamic State in the region.

“Kapag sinabi ng Supreme Court na hindi okay, withdraw tayo. Sabihin ko sa mga sundalo withdraw tayo kasi sabi ng Supreme Court.” Duterte said during an ambush interview at Sultan Kudarat. “Kung magbalik ang ISIS doon bahala na ang Supreme Court.”

Meanwhile,  Duterte clarified that he declared Martial Law due to the assessment of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines that the situation is critical.

Pres. Duterte assured critics that he has no plans of using the Martial Law to remain in power.

The President declared Martial Law all over Mindanao last May 23 after the Maute Terror group assaulted Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.

Three petitions have already been filed at the Supreme Court requesting that the Martial Law declaration be dismissed.
