President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday warned members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) that they have until Friday (June 15) to leave the government housing units intended for soldiers, military and firefighters, that they occupied or face a harsher punishment from him.
During the oath taking of newly elected barangay officials of CALABARZON, the president gave the KADAMAY an ultimatum to leave the houses they occupied of else he will as the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force to take them down.
President Duterte said that he will instruct the SAF members to use force if needed, and it wouldn’t be the government’s fault if someone dies from the KADAMAY side as the police implement what is legal.
The president was irked when members of the KADAMAY-Rizal chapter tried to occupy the National Housing Authority project in Rodriguez, Rizal on Wednesday, June 13.
However, they were barred from entering the premises as authorities and officials from the NHA intervened.
In a DZRH interview with Simon Trinidad, spokesman of KADAMAY-Rizal, the reason why they tried to occupy the said housing units is because of the Joint Resolution no.2 signed by the president, stating that unoccupied housing units intended for uniformed personnel should be given to indigents, including members of the urban group.
In the end, Trinidad said that them leaving doesn’t mean they are retreating, but will be back with a stronger force.
