Filipino athletes who brought home their gold, silver, and bronze medals from the latest Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur will be receiving a whooping Php 16 million cash incentives.
President Rodrigo Duterte will personally hand out to the winners their individual’s gains during the athletes’ courtesy call at Malacañang Palace on September 13.
The Philippines managed to acquire 24 gold, 33 silver and 64 bronze medals from 121 athletes who competed in 37 sports. The Philippines ranked 6th among 11 countries at the biennial sportsfest.
Trenten Beram, who won gold medals in the 200 and 400 meters and another bronze in the 4 x 100-meter relay, bagged the biggest haul Php 600,000.
Track star Eric Cray earned Php 465,000 while gold, silver, and bronze medal gymnast Kaitlin de Guzman will take home Php 510,000
Silver medalists will be collecting a total of Php 4,950,000 while bronze medalist will have a combined cash reward of Php 3,840,000.
