The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) introduced its new music director last July 6, 2016 at Hotel Jen in Pasay City.
PPO’s new music director is Japanese conductor Yoshikazu Fukumura, known as one of the most admired maestros in Japan.
He has been a music director of Tokyo Ballet, Kyoto Municipal Symphony and Nayoga Philharmonic.
In 2012 until 2015, Fukumura appeared as guest conductor for PPO season concerts.
Despite being a busy man, the maestro said he decided to accept the position in PPo because of his love for the Philippines.
The maestro said his style of conducting music is through demanding ‘discipline’, for it will result to a productive and better PPO.
Fukumura added that he wants PPO to be on the top five orchestras in Asia.
The new music director appeals for the cooperation of Filipinos to make his best in leading the PPO.
