Police shot by still unidentified gunmen in Manila

A police was shot by still unidentified gunmen on Tuesday morning in Ermita, Manila while on-board his motorcycle to drop by his daughter in school.

The victim was identified as PO2 Mark Anthony Peñano assigned at Alvarez Police Station-3.

The ambush took place along Ayala corner San Marcelino St. near the Technological University of the Philippines.

The victim was rushed to the hospital. According to the Crime Scene Investigator, the victim suffered gunshot wounds on the head and body.

The victim’s condition is currently under observation.

Meanwhile, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera captured the six suspects reaponsible in the said ambush.

Based on the empty bullet shells in the crime scene, the suspects used caliber .45 pistol and 9MM.

Investigators are still verifying the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the shooting of the police.
