Senator Grace Poe questioned the Department of Transporation’s alleged lack of masterplan in putting an end to the traffic woes in Metro Manila.
During the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Services, the lady senator said that Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade is just using President Rodrigo Duterte’s lack of emergency powers as an excuse for their agency’s failure to solve the traffic problem.
Poe insisted that the President doesn’t need emergency powers in order to solve the traffic crisis in the metro.
According to Poe, there are a lot of solutions available, including hastening of all road projects, rolling out of additional trains for the MRT 3 among others.
Tugade was also castigated for his lack of coordination with the Senate which is slowing down the process in discussing the proposed emergency powers for President Duterte.
Poe added that Tugade rarely attends Senate hearings, not like other Cabinet Secretaries who are pushing for their proposed agendas, that’s why theirs often get “certified as urgent.”
